The Upside Down
A design inspired by the show, Stranger Things, which takes place in a fictional town in Indiana. The show features a dark, alternate world called The Upside Down. I took the name literally and applied it to the Indianapolis skyline.
Realism
Sketches to show realism - I am not sure if it’s weirder to say that these were my feet or someone else’s.
A Tale of Two Cities
As a native New Yorker who lived in Chicago, I still have a hard time picking the more scenic skyline. I’m leaning towards New York…
Spiderman
This displays the different, early iterations of Sipderman’s web-blasting hand poses.
The Winged Worm Wonder
The neighborhood birds call it breakfast to-go. The slower birds call it unfair, or “avian injustice”.
The Korean American
This piece utilizes metaphor. The tiger is often a symbol of South Korea while the Bald Eagle is a well known token of the United States. In addition, the tiger and eagle are positioned in a way to echo the yin and yang symbol found on the South Korean flag. This piece rings true to me since I was born and raised in New York to two South Korean immigrant parents.
